Just spent an exhausting weekend at Cambridge shooting four 50m rounds. Weather was cool & breezy Saturday and I matched my pb in the morning with 687 and beat it in the afternoon with 693. After a very cold night camping, the Sunday was a very sunny day but with a stronger breeze. I struggled with the breeze and lack of sleep in the morning, but shot well in the afternoon when things calmed down a little to get 692. A poor dozen arrows after the comfort break cost me the opportunity of getting close to the magical 700 - one day (soon) hopefully!

Not sure what happened, but somehow on a pretty tricky day weather-wise I managed to shoot a 1380 FITA which is a PB. 70m was another PB with 347 and I matched my PB at 50m with 345. Morning weather was warm and pleasant but the afternoon brought cold, blustery wind and pretty heavy rain which made 30m rather stressful as I knew I was on for a good score but couldn't help dropping points in the wind. I came 1st overall and took home a rather nice trophy. After drying out, a good day!
Shot pretty well overall: 1344 Day 1 & 1353 Day 2. 5th after Day 1, crept up to 3rd on Day 2 but a pretty average 50m meant I finished 6th. Still, a tricky weekend weatherwise with gusty breeze most of the time and heavy rain for 90m Day 1. 2nd GMB of the year. Just no metal to bring home unfortunately. |
